Localiser – 5 years of successful planning of charging infrastructure
Spin-off from the Reiner Lemoine Institute celebrates company anniversary
On September 11th, the employees of Localiser GmbH celebrated their 5th anniversary. Localiser is a spin-off from the Reiner Lemoine Institute: In September 2018, Kathrin Goldammer and Oliver Arnhold founded the software company for planning charging infrastructure for electromobility. Today, they employ a dozen people and plan several thousand charging locations in Germany and Europe.
At the celebration, Kathrin and Oliver thanked employees, business partners and supporters such as the Reiner Lemoine Foundation for their joint work and successes over the past years. Since the spin-off, the company has achieved important milestones: for a guide to charging infrastructure planning (DIN SPEC 91433), Localiser 2020 won the Innovator Award of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) together with RLI. The company has been active internationally since 2021. Since 2022, the hydrogen marketplace Berlin-Brandenburg has supplemented the portfolio. 400 companies have already registered on the digital brokerage platform for players in the hydrogen economy. The marketplace is available in eleven countries.
“We are pleased that Localiser has now been around for so long and is operating so successfully. This shows us that the RLI is not only capable of research and consulting, but also of successful spin-offs,” says Kathrin Goldammer, managing director of Localiser and the RLI.
Efficient planning of charging infrastructure
Enabling efficient planning of charging infrastructure – that is the goal of Localiser GmbH. To realize this, the team has developed e-mobility software that allows customers to identify the best locations for their future charging infrastructure. The company also offers a hydrogen marketplace.
Successful spin-off from RLI
Localiser is a spin-off from the RLI. Prior to the founding of the company, many researchers at the RLI were working on the question of how the energy system can be prepared for a higher proportion of renewable electricity. In this context, the institute also conducted numerous projects on charging infrastructure planning. The experience gained from these projects ultimately motivated Kathrin and Oliver to found the company.
