Networks and ideas
The completion date is October 2010: Dachland GmbH will be settling in its new head office directly opposite the solar module manufacturer Solon SE, which has also built here its new headquarters. Dachland GmbH has been at home in Adlershof for a long time. Since 2004 it has installed photovoltaic systems on the roofs and facades of the Photonics Centre, the Biotechnology and Environment Centre UTZ and the Ferdinand Braun Institute, to name but a few.
Michael Eyberg sees many reasons for the move to the Science City, of which the most convincing were the contact potential beyond the location’s borders. “The available networks in Adlershof are highly interesting to us. After all, networks facilitate communication that in turn gives rise to new ideas.” This opinion is also shared by Carolin Domann at the International Office. This coordinates collaboration and networking with other technology parks and develops ideas and services making it easier for SMEs like Dachland GmbH to start operations on the international level as well.
The Adlershof model utilises roof mounted photovoltaic systems for enhancing the location’s lifecycle assessment. One further advantage of this model is its twenty year warranty for the reconditioned roofs fitted with photovoltaic systems. Domann and Eyberg got talking at Intersolar, the world’s largest trade fair for solar technologies that took place in Munich, and now intend to pursue further the idea practised with such success in Adlershof. “We shall be pursuing this concept further and putting it to our partners,” explained Domann. The first opportunity will present itself at a colloquium that Adlershof will be hosting in the autumn 2009 on the international development of the technology park and its potential for joint ventures. Contributions will be made by specialists arriving from all over the world. The solar roofs of Adlershof could then be a subject for the halls.
At present Dachland is working on three other photovoltaic roof projects in Adlershof, in addition to its plans for the new head office in the south of the park – all of course fitted with photovoltaic systems.
