Professional, efficient, and successful
kba embraces Adlershof
“Building in a cost-effective, efficient way and at a high-quality level while fulfilling top architectural standards – that’s the challenge we set ourselves, time and again,” explains David Lehmann, Managing Director of kba Architekten und Ingenieure GmbH. This is exactly what the company has specialised in – particularly in the rental property area.
David Lehmann is sitting in front of a table strewn with various architectural drawings. One ensemble shows the first visualisation, which has already successfully made the leap from paper to reality. “Charlotte”, a multi-storey block of flats on Groß-Berliner Damm, has been ready to receive tenants since summer 2016. As the general planner, kba supervised the entire construction process – from planning to handover, providing over 120 flats in total.
According to Lehmann, the construction of rental flats, both new-builds and refurbishments, is the company’s core area of expertise – from 12-storey prefabs in Berlin-Buch to classic properties in a venerable style, and from architectural jewels to energy-efficient, multi-storey new-builds.
kba was once a GDR state-owned company, whose workforce of 300 employees planned industrial sites. Now transformed into a GmbH, kba has had its headquarters in Adlershof since 2008. The company has certainly made its mark on Adlershof, including the start-up centres on Rudower Chaussee, the WISTA-MANAGEMENT administrative offices and the IT innovation centre. Today, over 50 people work for kba, primarily architects, engineers, and technicians. Therefore the structual planning runs alongside the technical building services in an integrative approach.“This means we can offer our customers expertise over the entire planning and construction process from a single source,” says Managing Director Lehmann.
These advantages are also beneficial in the company’s own project development. Architectural drawing two shows the new company headquarters – a three-storey building that will offer space for around 60 employees. Thomas Wilding, long-term partner, Managing Director and Architect at kba, has contributed all his experience and expertise to the new building.
“After a planning process where the employees participated with their comments and suggestions for improvements, we have come up with a building model that is optimised in terms of the company’s organisational structure – bright, flexible and conducive to good communication,” states Thomas Wilding. The company headquarters also follow the corporate philosophy: cost-effective, efficient and in line with the highest architectural standards.
