WISTA is a not-for-profit Berlin state corporation
Our mission is to create framework conditions for sustainable economic growth in Berlin. And our focus is on promoting young as well as established innovation-oriented technology companies with the aim of networking between business and science.
To this end, we operate technology and start-up centers at several locations in close proximity to renowned university and non-university research and science institutions.
We are technology promoters, real estate managers, cooperation brokers, start-up consultants and much more.
On the way to holistic sustainability management
In 2018, WISTA Management GmbH made the decision to include the sustainable transformation of the company and the Adlershof site across all dimensions of sustainability in the corporate strategy.
For this purpose, WISTA has set up a team that is primarily responsible for overseeing the development of the strategy, management system and programme, as well as reporting on it regularly in accordance with the German Sustainability Code (DNK). We have set ourselves the goal of embedding the existing processes and all projects and initiatives in a systematic sustainability management system. For a status quo determination, the first DNK declaration was prepared in 2020 for the reporting year 2019.
In order to increase the leverage of the measures and their effects, the sustainability management with all sustainability activities was extended to the group of companies, including our subsidiaries WISTA.Service GmbH and WISTA.Plan GmbH, as a further step.

Our working world is diverse
We see diversity in the team as an essential value in the personal attitude of all managers and employees of WISTA. For us, it forms the basis of our cooperation and is expressed, among other things, in our personal dealings with each other and in our external activities. We are convinced that the challenges of our time and the rapid changes in the framework conditions of our activities can only be solved in diverse teams. We urgently need different perspectives, different horizons of experience and as diverse personalities as possible in order to be able to develop innovative solutions.
Actively and intensively dealing with the dimensions of diversity opens up the possibility for us to reflect on our teamwork and constantly continue to work together on openness, respect, equality and tolerance. We want to create an atmosphere in which everyone can contribute their skills and potential in the best possible way to the company's goals. An important building block for this is the “WISTA Diversity Theme Afternoons”, which have already been successfully established as a format and at which we address the facets of diversity in the work context.
Events for diversity
To mark European Diversity Month and German Diversity Day, we fly the flag for diversity every year with various campaigns (video message 2021 on YouTube in German).
Diversity Charter
We support the ‘Diversity Charter’ initiative and have signed it in order to give even more expression and quality to diversity as a value and thus be part of the social obligation as a national company.
WISTA on the “Team Equality”
We are actively committed to a new corporate culture that promotes equality for all specialists and managers, regardless of gender, and is characterized by appreciation, respect and openness. As a state company, we use our opportunity to be a role model for other companies and signed the “Equality Wins Charter” as a voluntary commitment, which was developed by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Crafts and the Senate Department for Science, Health, Care and Equality. As a member of the “Equality Wins” network, we are committed to a cultural change in Berlin's business community.
